This was the first of two National Titles, he also won the Super Middleweight (168 lb) belt in 2003 by out pointing Mark Bargero in Sydney. Other titles Shannan has claimed have been the WBF World Super Middle and Middleweight (160 lb),OPBF Welterweight (147 lb) and WBA - PABA, WBA - Fedelatin, IBF Australasian, IBF Pan Pacific junior middleweight.

In 2001, Shannan lost a game challenge for the WBC Wwelterweight World Title to the legendary American Shane Mosley in Las Vegas (TKO by 6). Shannan has also challenged unsuccessfully for the IBO Jnr Middle & Middleweight and IBF Middleweight titles.

He was once rated number one by the WBC at Welterweight and is one of the best fighters this country has produced over the past decade and is still rated number one contender for the Australian middleweight title. His best punch is the left rip to the liver!
