Col lost that belt to Aussie Joe Bugner by decision at Jupiters Casino in 1998. In 2002 he upset Jimmy Thunder on points and in '03 he re- captured the Australian title by stopping Roger Izon in ten rounds at Seagulls in Tweed Heads. He has since retained it four times. In April of this year, he challenged for the IBF Inter Continental title against WBC number 13 Oleg Platov in Germany and has recently been sparring with the EX WBA heavyweight champ Nicoay Valuev.
